There are some great ways and fun events to show your support the Friends of the Library (FOL) as the weather warms up. Mark your calendars and bring your family. We hope to see you around town at the following events:
OHIOANA BOOK FESTIVAL
Saturday, May 11 | 10:00 am – 4:30 pm
Fort Hayes Metropolitan Education Center | 546 Jack Gibbs Blvd.
The Ohioana Library is dedicated to collecting, preserving, and promoting the written work of Ohio’s writers, artists, and musicians. This free festival is held annually to celebrate Ohio authors who have published books in the previous 16 months. This year there are more than 100 authors, live music, food trucks and…plenty of books! Check out the festival website for more information.
COLUMBUS COMMONS READING ROOM
May 28 to August 31 | Monday-Friday 10 am- 7 pm; Saturday 12 pm – 7 pm; Sunday 12 pm – 5 pm
The FOL provides discarded books for readers to enjoy at the park and CML provides free wi-fi. It’s a lovely place to be on a sunny summer day. Do check it out sometime. Here is the link to more info.
SUMMER READING CLUB KICKOFF
Saturday, June 8 | Main Library 10 am – 12 pm
Summer Reading Club is always a good time and a highlight of the summer for kids in our community. The Library Store will hold a “sidewalk sale” outside the store in the lobby area during the kickoff.
PBJ & JAZZ
Saturdays @ noon: June 8 | July 13 | August 10 | September 14
This is the 5th year for the PBJ & Jazz concert series in the Topiary Park, which is a collaboration between the Jazz Arts Group, the FOL, the Friends of the Topiary Park and the Columbus Museum of Art. These events follow 11 am storytime at the library and are followed by a hands-on art activity from 1 pm to 2 pm. More details here. Look for an FOL sidewalk sale these days as well.
