Columbus Metropolitan Library is providing a chance for the public to add signatures to one of the steel plates to be used in the construction of the new Parson’s Branch. The steel plate is on display at the current Parsons Branch and CML customers have the chance to sign their names on it and become a part of the neighborhood’s – and library’s – history.
The plate is available for the public to sign today, Friday, Sept. 11 through noon on Thursday, Sept. 17 at the Parsons Branch located at 845 Parsons Ave. The Parsons Branch is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
The signed steel plate will then be incorporated into the new building, expected to open in summer of 2016. When completed, the new building will have approximately 19,000 square feet of space, more than doubling the size of the current Parsons Branch, which has 7,599 square feet. The number of parking spaces will more than triple – from 20 to 64.
